Second RABlog Week Survey

Second RABlog Week Survey

The second RABlog week survey is available!  A second survey, what is this about?  It has been our tradition to survey the community for selection of the prompts we will be using.  The prompts are the heart of RABlog week and this survey helps us choose topics that reflect what interests us for the week ahead.

What are we choosing?

This year we will have seven prompts.  Five prompts for Monday thru Friday and two optional prompts for those who wish to choose a wild card during the week or who want to keep going on the weekend.  In keeping with the purpose of blog week, one prompt (Friday) is pre-selected.  This year the Friday prompt is:

Great Blogs I have read this week – RABlog week is, at its heart, a way for bloggers to connect. Tell others about the great blogs you have read over the week. Perhaps you have found a gem from a blogger you did not know before or maybe one of your friends shared special insight. Give the high five in print to another blogger or two who participated in 2016 RABlog week.

Why is this the final prompt of blog week?  As you know, bloggers sometimes write without much, if any, recognition.  I know that when someone comments on my writing, I am thrilled, and I think perhaps others feel the same.  Since the purpose of blog week is to build community, the Friday prompt encourages us to read each other’s material from blog week and give some high fives in print.  Who knows, you might get some additional dedicated readers or you might be that one special voice that reflects exactly what you are thinking?  Community is only possible when we interact, and the Friday prompt helps us do more of that.

This leaves six prompts for us to decide.  This year I have divided prompts into three general categories:

Life with RA

Therapy and Treatment of RA

Stories about living with RA

The top two from each category will make the list.  The two least popular of the second place selections will be our wildcard options for the week.  The more number 1’s a prompt receives, the more likely it is to be selected as one of the top four.

Online_Survey_Icon.svgWho can help select prompts?

In short, everyone can help make the selection.  Of course, I hope bloggers participate, but also our readers.  The better our topics, the better our readership.  Suppose we have readers who are excited about a topic?  It will be fun to write about that topic as well as the ones that strike a chord with the bloggers.

But you ask what happens if someone answers more than once?  No problem, in fact, this is encouraged.  If someone feels so strongly that they want to take the survey more than once then they must really want to read or write about a prompt, so answering the survey more than once is encouraged.

When does the survey start?

The survey opens on August 11, 2016, and will end at midnight August 31, 2016.   At that time, I will publish the prompts and if you wish, you may begin writing responses.  I plan to have RABlog week sign up running by September 5, 2016.

Where did these prompts come from?

I collected all of these suggestions from you, the readers and bloggers.  I received some suggestions last year on the prompt survey, and I added those suggestions to this survey.  I also collected several from responses to the Badge and Banner survey.  Then I collected a few from suggestions on Twitter and Facebook.  So except for two prompts, the Friday prompt and the write about anything prompt (last year), all prompts came from bloggers or readers.
