The Eagles

The Eagles

My son and I gifted each other tickets to see the Eagles on their 2018 tour. At the time we saw them they had 54 total shows booked and Indianapolis was their first. The group was still working out some kinks, but that was fine since this afforded us a slightly longer show. Dave Lindquist of the Indianapolis Star reported the group sang 28 songs five more than the usual 23. We had wonderful seats (thank you son) and we had such a wonderful time. It was well worth the added expense to get great seats in the lower section. As my son said back...

The Spring Tune Up

The Spring Tune Up

Last week I took my bicycle to the local shop for a spring tune-up. I did that even though the temperature was in the low 30’s and I am in a surgical boot because of a minor surgery, which was not so minor, 4 months ago. Despite the apparent impediments to riding my bicycle, getting it serviced is a spring ritual that I have been doing since I was a boy.   To read the remainder of this articile check out The Spring Tune Up on   RheumatoidArthritis.net  ...

My new diabetes case, a give away, and cool savings all in one post

I have been given this product as part of a product review. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and the company in no way influenced me. My new cool case   A few days ago, I received a diabetes supplies carrying case from SugarMedical. I want to say right off that I love this case. It is roomy and can comfortably accommodate the items I carry with me. The case I am using right now is SugrBag Mini Black Leather case. It meets all my typical requirements. It is soft, flexible, well made, and...

Pickles are important

Pickles are important

I received my pickle over 60 years ago.  I have had it all my life.  Shortly after others saw my pickle, it was shaved and after that, my pickle pretty much just grew along with me. At times my pickle seemed to have a mind of its own.  It seemed like it wanted to explore anywhere and everywhere.  It tried to roam near and far mostly with me in tow until I was 18.  Then my pickle settled down and became less important. Things like backpacking, cars, work and family became important to me.  Over the years my pickle would seek attention and then...

That purse doesn’t match your shoes

That purse doesn’t match your shoes

I did not think I really heard it quite right, but yeah there it was.  My purse did /does not match my shoes.  The comment came from a passing man in a church we were visiting to get our pictures taken.  It was received as I believe it was meant by the sender. What the gentleman was referring to, was my bag that I carry these days and it was meant both as a joke and a comment on my sexuality.  In my mind the comment went over like a bomb. We were visiting a church   This occurred at a church Sheryl and I were visiting.  We were...

My Moment of “Then”

My Moment of “Then”

My moment of “then’” occurred 6,182 days ago, on January 21, 2001. Because that was shortly after receiving my first biologic medication for RA. It was a Sunday and when I woke up, I felt truly free for the first time in years. I went skipping around the house and shouting, “I’m free, I’m free.” As I recall I was singing the song from Tommy, “I’m Free”. Ok, I am an old fart; but for the first time in years I felt free in comparison to prior burdens on my body. So why is it a moment of “then?” For many years I had been battling this...

DAY 4 RABlog week – Are Hobbies healthy? Well maybe.

This is day four of RABlog week.  Today’s post is all about hobbies.  We are more than RA.  Here is a look at my hobbies.  Responding to the prompt: Hobbies – Hobbies are healthy or maybe they are not? What is your hobby and how does it help you with your autoimmune conditions? If you do not have a hobby imagine a great hobby for a person dealing with RA. Collections Collecting things is part of my DNA.   My father collected all manner of things.  For many years he collected matchbook covers.  I know many of you have no idea that...

Wildcard number 2 – New Doctors

Wildcard number 2 – New Doctors

I am participating in RABlog week. Today I chose wildcard number 2 for my prompt: New doctors – Ideas for breaking in new doctors, how to begin the process of establishing viable collaborative patient/doctor relationships. What do you do in those days leading up to the new doctor visit? Best way to break in a new Doctor? I think the best way to break in a new doctor is not to do it.   I  have terrific doctors, many of them; but each time I get a new one I have to start at the beginning.  Despite my doctors all having access to my...

Wildcard #1 – Day 2 of 2017 RABlog week

Overlap – Discuss the medical conditions that overlap and sometimes mask or make the symptoms of autoimmune conditions worse. I took this wildcard because I am often asked about the overlap of Type 1 Diabetes and RA.  I am also asked which is worse.  So with my site named RADiabetes, I thought lets be RADical and I chose the wildcard. First, the main answer.  My body is a system with two main issues.  Diabetes and  RA feed off and work against each other to make life miserable sometimes.  One would think that after 43 years of dealing...
